Examples of disorders and problems that can be treated by psychotherapy include:
- You suffer from pain, sleep disorder, vertigo, cardiac arrhythmia or other physical disorders and your doctor cannot find any physical cause.
- You can only keep up your physical condition by consuming stimulant drugs, tranquilizers or sleeping pills (psychopharmaceuticals).
- You experience heart palpitations and fear that you must die without any reason.
- You experience fears that stress or constrain you, for example fear of contact with other people, fear of authorities, fear of large open spaces, fear of small rooms or test anxiety.
- You have frequent thoughts that you don’t dare to tell anybody, like a sense of shame or guilt, hate feelings, a feeling of inadequacy, a feeling of being persecuted or of being controlled by someone else, etc.
- You feel sluggish or unmotivated, lethargic, exhausted or constantly overstrained.
- You often feel depressed and are unable to enjoy the pleasures of life.
- You feel sad and lonely.
- You are in a straining situation of radical change (for instance a major illness, death, job loss, divorce, separation, accident, etc.) that is difficult to overcome.
- You sometimes think about suicide and/or your psychological strain is very high.
- You are in a relationship that feels very stressful.
- You feel permanently overburdened by your children.
- You repeatedly experience serious problems in interacting with other people (e.g. at your workplace).
- You are addicted – to alcohol, drugs, food, hunger, love, gambling.
- You feel an inner urge to repeat certain acts or thoughts (e.g. compulsion to wash, lock the door, brood over something), despite the fact that this behavior constricts your life.
- You do not come to terms with your sexuality.
- You experience fear of making decisions.
